Save the Oakleigh Rotary Sunday Market

The Oakleigh Rotary Sunday Market is a unique part of our local community. The market has been operating for about 40 years and it has raised over $1 million for charities.

A few years ago, Monash Council proposed to sell-off the Hanover Street car park, where the market is located, and approve a seven-storey development on that site.

Such an action by council would displace the Market, which is an unrivaled local gem.

The campaign to save the Oakleigh Rotary Sunday Market drew from community grassroots support and ultimately persuaded Monash Council to vote down the proposal.

Thanks our local movement, the Rotary Market still operates today and continues to provide an immense benefit to the Oakleigh community.
